Welcome to True Voice Clinic
Our program provides gender-affirming pitch elevation surgery for trans women and non-binary patients seeking a higher, more feminine vocal pitch. This handout explains what to expect at your first visit and how to prepare.
What Happens at the First Appointment?
Your first appointment is 60 minutes and includes:
45 minutes with Sherri (Registered Speech-Language Pathologist or SLP)
• Detailed voice assessment
• Review of your goals
• Discussion of non-surgical vs surgical options
• Baseline acoustic and aerodynamic recordings
• Examination including laryngeal endoscopy (scope)
15 minutes with Dr. Morzaria (Laryngologist - ENT Surgeon)
• Discussion of surgical candidacy
• Overview of risks, benefits, expectations
Tests & Measurements at Your Visit
Your baseline recordings include:
• Fundamental frequency (pitch)
• Fundamental frequency range
• Maximum phonatory time
• Maximum loudness
• Conversational and continuous speech samples
• Rainbow passage reading
These recordings help guide treatment and track postoperative change.
Cost of the First Appointment
Voice therapy and pitch elevation surgery are not covered by MSP.
The total cost of the first visit is $600.
Your consult fee is fully applied toward the cost of surgery.
Payment methods: cash, cheque (no credit cards).
Receipts are provided.
What You Should Bring
• A list of medications
• Previous voice therapy notes (if applicable)
• Prior ENT assessment notes (if applicable)
• Your questions and goals
After the First Appointment
If you are deemed a good candidate for surgery and wish to proceed:
• You must complete three mandatory preoperative voice therapy sessions
• Therapy is arranged directly with Sherri, our Registered SLP
• Failure to participate will cancel the surgical process
You will also require:
• Surgical consent
• Registered SLP clearance for readiness
• Medical clearance (if needed)
• Full payment prior to scheduling
